In 1970 Ford cancelled their previous performance models the Boss 302 and Boss 429 as a result of increasing insurance premiums, and tighter emissions standards. Ford also withdrew from factory sponsored racing and therefore no longer needed a car that held the big block 429 engine. All of these factors led to the introduction of the Boss 351 in 1971. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a 3.91:1 Traction Lock differential. This car also came with many factory options such as power steering, rim bow-deluxe steering wheel, tinted glass and an AM/8 track radio.
