Additional Description: This 1979 Volkswagen Type 2 Bus is part of the long-standing reputation for being associated with the open road. So to find a well-presented example that's also a strong runner means it's ready to hit the byways. We love these because the form maximized efficiency, but along the way we also saw style in it, too. The factory-correct Reef Blue and Pastel White two-tone seem to show that idea off nicely. It was updated later in life to give this a good gloss, and we love how the colors are intertwined. After all, the white seems to surround the blue, because it's not only on the roof, but also the bumpers, front grille, and wheels. There's even a handsome white pinstripe that runs down the sides and loops around the back. Clean headlights, bright wheel covers, and tinted windows are all part of a package that shows this Bus has received plenty of love over the years, but never really strays from the original spirit. The gray interior continues the feeling of simple sophistication. The two front buckets have large headrests and good side bolstering to be long-haul comfortable. Plus, you have two rows of seating behind that are both refinished in the same gray tweed cloth. And there are nice upgrades to make this road-trip comfortable for everyone, like the full carpeting and the AM/FM/CD stereo with Bluetooth and USB to plug in your phone. This was the final year for the Type 2 Bus, and so it got the largest and one of the best motors from the series. The 2.0-liter fuel-injected flat-four is believed to be original to the vehicle, and it show signs of the right recent maintenance. There's even a sticker from a German car specialist in Manhattan Beach, CA. So it's a true California beach Bus that has been given a good life! This one is a strong and smooth engine that has the classic air-cooled sound. The four-speed manual transmission has a crisp action that allows you to take full control of the motor. Plus, there are modern Hankook tires for easy cruising, and stopping is even well in-hand thanks to front disc brakes. This is a well-maintained iconic Bus from its final year. Even the odometer is believed to reflect actual mileage (averaging under 1,500 miles annually.) So if you want to hit the road in this VW tomorrow, you need to call today!
